Coach Portal: How coaches search and evaluate
RecruitMyGame's coach portal is a secure workspace where verified college staffs search athletes, build recruiting boards, and optionally launch Team Portals. Understanding how it works helps both coaches and athletes.
Access is invite-only. A coach confirms an invitation, registers a staff account, and then searches the same verified profiles athletes publish. There is no public directory of coaches, and there is no paid "unlock" that hides an athlete from staffs who are already in the workspace.
For coaches
The private workspace is the product. Search, boards, and staff collaboration live here whether or not you ever launch a public Team Portal. The portal is optional: use it when you want a recruiting-ready team page, not as a requirement to evaluate athletes.
- Search verified athlete profiles without gatekeeping or surprise paywalls.
- Organize recruits into boards and export lists when needed.
- Launch a Team Portal when you're ready to showcase your program publicly.
Boards stay inside the staff account. Notes and list exports are for your program, not a public ranking. If you need seats for assistants, team seat bundles live on the Team Portal side and can wait until the private search workflow is already useful.
For athletes and families
The coach portal gives you transparency into how staffs actually work.
A coach who is in the workspace can open your RecruitMyGame profile the same way they would open a questionnaire packet: film first, then academics, then character. Verified coach reviews travel with the profile so a staff is not relying on a self-written bio for the parts that are hard to fake.
- Coaches can find your RecruitMyGame profile without you paying to "unlock" visibility.
- Your profile is what they see—but you should still scout their program using Tosch.ai before saying yes.
- When a program shows interest, you can check roster opportunity, coach stability, and program history first.
How evaluation actually works
Most staffs do not read a profile top to bottom. They watch film, check whether the academics and measurables are in range for that roster, and look for a verified adult who will stand behind the character claims. If those three hold, they add the athlete to a board and keep looking. If they do not, the profile closes and nothing is owed either direction.
That is why a complete profile matters more than a long message. Outreach is useful after the research: a note that names the program's need, your timeline, and a link to the profile. Empty blasts waste the same staff time the portal was built to save.
Interest from a program is the start of your research, not the end of it. Use Tosch.ai to see roster opportunity and coach stability before you treat a message as a decision. The portal tells you how staffs work; it does not tell you which school is the right four years.
